Choosing the best speakers for your car

Let's be honest; Many people are often overwhelmed and confused when it comes to choosing the best speakers for their car. With the many shapes, sizes, designs, and brands available, this makes it all the more frustrating, and even more so when considering technical specifications that many people may be unaware of.

This article will introduce you to a short guide on some of the things to keep in mind when choosing the best speakers for your car.

The first thing you should do is consider the amount of space and vacant spots that the speakers can fit in your car. This will go a long way in determining the size of the speakers you have chosen and also the number of speakers you want to install.

Next, you need to know the power and sensitivity handling specifications of the speakers. Power handling refers to the amount of power, measured in watts, that the speaker can handle. If your car is equipped with low power audio setup, then you don't need to get high power speakers. On the other hand, if you have amps that power your system, you will need speakers with power handling specifications close to the output of the amps. It is important not to be confused with some of the terms used for power management, ลำโพงแบรนด์ดัง.

Sometimes you can see manufacturers using terms like "musical power" or "maximum power handling". These mean very little. Always be sure to look for maximum RMS power handling. RMS measures the power that a speaker can handle continuously, not just for a short period of time.

Second, there is the speaker sensitivity specification. The more sensitive a speaker is, the less power will be needed to power it, and the less sensitive a speaker is, the more power will be needed at the same volume. You have to take sensitivity into account, especially when you power the speakers directly from the main unit without amplifiers. Main units typically have less power and will therefore require loudspeakers that are more responsive to power them properly. With amps, there's not much to worry about, though speakers with a lower sensitivity rating are recommended.

Now we look at the type of speaker systems available. These can be divided into two types; Full range and component based systems.

A full-range speaker system is one in which all the speakers are mounted in a single frame. They consist of the woofer and tweeter, and sometimes midrange, all mounted in a single unit. These are best suited if you replace the factory speakers that come with your car. With the different shapes and sizes available, you can easily find one that fits factory-designed speaker locations.

Component-based speakers are designed for the best sound. They come separate. Woofers, tweeters, and midranges are all separate. The sounds produced by this system are generally more realistic and the tweeters can be mounted in locations that provide the best image. Also, the materials used to design component-based speakers are of higher quality than the full-range system.

For both the full range and component-based systems, speaker materials are very important. For woofers, the stiff, lightweight material produces the best performance. Most of the time synthetic films like polypropylene are used and it is very efficient. If you want more bass, then you should go for a mix of polypropylene and mica, which is often stiffer and provides more bass.
